In its initial form, the 14/40 was essentially a modern design with detachable cylinder head, three-speed in-unit gearbox, single plate clutch and both pairs of brakes on the rear wheels only. Vauxhalls were intended to be enjoyed by owners who simply enjoyed serious motoring in well-engineered and capable cars.
